ALRIGHT! Sony BMG will begin selling music that is not DRM [Digital Rights Management] protected.

I like this.

Its another catch22 of our times.

Musicians make music to make a living.

Record companies sell music to give the musicians a living.

We [the digital consumer] digital-ize music and spread it like Atlanta-kudzu.

I still buy music. I still spread music. Most of all, I listen to music and appreciate music.

[How's that for a micro-post?]

Finally (you know that both of us have been waiting such times to come, for probably 5+ years now), but this is one less limit on your music.
The article mentions that an artist gained ‘mainstream exposure’ thanks to a DRM-free promotion, I wonder who that is.
But the comments on the article left out a good point that the article didn’t address:
Is Sony/BMG offering this to their listeners outside of the USA ? I doubt it (as is the case with iTunes drm-free,IIRC, and they’re ignoring a lot of their customers (and potential customers).
On the positive, partnering with amazon (a site that many already have accounts with and trust) will appease the average consumer like my sister who won’t feel annoyed that she has to give and keep track of her information to yet another website.
