I recently joined Pownce, a social network that enables users to send messages, links, files, and events to friends and groups of friends.

I find it similar to twitter except the posts are longer and more versatile. Twitter and Pownce are in the same class of social network, called micro-blogging. Micro-blogging is basically a short-text based message system in which users update their status via a variety of platforms.

[Cont. 1/29/08] I just received my first event! This service is kick! I am finding it more pleasant to work with as I add more connections and am able to view feedback of other Powncers. It has also served as a good replacement to my error-filled twitter desktop app. This does not mean I have forgot about twitter and all the twitterers out there, it just means I have been concentrating on Pownce a bit more.

Good job Pownce dev team!!!

Just started my second semester, Junior year, at St. John’s U. I’m taking 18 credits, thats six 3-credit courses, and I’m still behind in my expected graduation date.

>Monday evening is my Consumer Behavior course with Dr. Kavil. I took a course with him last semester and was impressed with how he integrated teamwork into the Intro. class we were taking. This semester he plans to push us through group projects and a few classmate dependant case studies! I’m excited to see all that he will introduce to us.

>Tuesdays and Thursdays are my 9-am to 9-pm with a break for lunch and a break for dinner days. I start off with Export-Import Mktg which so far seems really cool as I want to concentrate on international business.

Next is Operations & Product Mgmt. Dr. Chao has had a full-life and he always tries to give us real input from what he has learned and experienced. I break for lunch, which is usually spent mostly in the computer lab doing homework or writing this post 8-).

After lunch I proceed to Mgmt Information Systems. I don’t really know what to expect from this course. I read up on the course description and it is meant to be:

"An investigation of principles governing the design, testing, and implementation of business procedures and information systems within the framework of computerized environment."

The professor is a very knowledgable and experienced business-woman working for JPMorgan. I like that she is very open in offering us tips, tricks, and real advise on landing those key positions in our respective industries.

I am taking a required english course, I believe it is called Global Literature. The professor is very upfront and clear on what he expects from his students. I plan on improving my writing abilities here.

My last class is Stats 2 at 7pm. I had taken the Stats 1 class last semester with the same professor so I am looking forward to a good grade.
