I came upon an interesting article in today’s edition of BusinessWeek.com. The title caught my eye first of all, "D’oh! More Homer Simpson on MySpace". The Simpsons have been a popular television show in millions of households throughout the country. It is considered the longest running American sitcom in history and was given the prestige of being Time Magazine’s best American T.V. show of the century. Fox hit it big with this one! They are currently rolling into the sitcom’s 19th season of which will be its finale, the 400th episode, and also a major motion picture is in the making.
NewsCorp is in the process of giving permission to MySpace users to embed video of its enormous gallery of copyrighted content on their pages. It is a huge step forward for advertising and distribution. Imagine the potential; upwards of 60 million users view MySpace pages and each of those users have the chance to see your show/advertisement. I can’t wait to see how this move affects other major content holders such as Viacom in their growing complications with YouTube, the fastest growing UGC aggregator with recent growth topping at more than 1000%!
